In order to increase its share in the Indian market, the Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), in association with Maldivian airline, organised a roadshow and B2B session in Chennai. Officials from MMPRC and Maldivian were present at the roadshow, which was held at the Hyatt Regency Chennai. Ltd., Loama Resort Maldives, Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives, Trav Maldives Pvt. Ltd., Hulhule Island Hotel, AAA Hotels & Resorts/Bathala Island Resort, and Palm Beach Resort & Spa. Maldivian collaborated with MMPRC as the Airline Partner for the roadshow as it offers direct connectivity between Chennai and Male.

The roadshows offered a platform for Maldives to speak of the desirability of the island destination as an attractive holiday destination from India, as far as easy connectivity and free visa on arrival to Indians are concerned.
The over-130 attendees at the event included tour wholesalers, travel agents, and media from Chennai. The welcome note was given by Fathimath Raheel, Deputy Director, MMPRC. This was followed by a presentation on Maldives by Reesha Rasheed, Marketing Officer, MMPRC, who gave comprehensive details on things to do in Maldives, hotels and resorts, and the new development project, Thumburi, by the Maldivian government to encourage local investment.
