In a major step to regain market share, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) Tourism will organise J&K Travel Mart in Srinagar next month. The event will be held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) between May 17 and 19. This was announced by Farooq A Shah, Managing Director, J&K Tourism Development Corporation & Director-Tourism, Kashmir, at an event organised by MakeMyTrip in New Delhi yesterday. Around 200 buyers will be invited for the three-day event, from across India as well as from various regional markets in South East Asia, said Shah.“We are expecting about 50 buyers from outside India to attend the event,” he said.
He said that tourism has received added focus under the new government, and Chief Minister himself is handling the portfolio. Saying that Domestic Tourism is the priority for J&K Tourism, Shah said that efforts are on to attract more Bollywood productions to the state. “The Chief Minister will be meeting the Bollywood fraternity during his proposed visit to Mumbai towards the end of this month,” he said. The government has set up a committee headed by Commissioner/Secretary-Tourism to offer single-window clearance for film production units who apply for permissions. “Clearances will be given within 24 hours.” he said.
