5.11 lakh FTAs in May 2015, up 9.2% from May 2014


Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) during the month of May 2015 were 5.11 lakh as compared to FTAs of 4.68 lakh during May 2014 and 4.17 lakh in May 2013. There has been a growth of 9.2 per cent in May 2015 over May 2014. The Ministry of Tourism compiles monthly estimates of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) on the basis of nationality-wise, port-wise data received from Bureau of Immigration (BOI) from tourism. FTAs during the period January-May 2015 were 33.32 lakh with a growth of 3.6 per cent, as compared to the FTAs of 32.15 lakh in January-May 2014 .The percentage share of FTAs in India during May 2015 among the top 15 source countries was highest from Bangladesh (19.32 per cent), followed by USA (16.99 per cent), UK (7.79 per cent), Malaysia (3.59 per cent), Sri Lanka (3.54 per cent), Japan (2.78 per cent), Australia (2.66 per cent),
